There are several Transition Initiatives across Scotland and more forming each year.
Lets think of each Transition initiative as a tree in our Scottish Transition forest. They'll be all ages, shapes and sizes. Some just seeds on the ground, some saplings reaching for the light others mature growing trees and sadly there's a few fallen ones too, but they are still adding nutritional value to our forest with their past knowledge and experience.

THE TREES in our Scottish Transition Forest
Seeds - embryonic groups still in the minds of those who are keen for something to start in their neighbourhood.
We've had responses from Paisley, Aberdeen, Biggar, Eigg and other locations from people interested in forming local Transition groups or to request recognition as being part of the Transition Network.
Saplings - young community organisations who have come together and who might have made an initial start and are thinking about what to do first or are just in the process of delivering their first actions within their community. Or they might be active groups who have not yet formally registered to become official.
Mature - initiatives who've been around a while, have some experience, might have lost a few branches but who are still growing and adapting to the changing dynamics of people, finance, ideas, energy, etc.

Here's a list of some of the other Hubs within the Transition Network.
There's lots more groups all over the world and they can be found here.
Equally, Transition groups are a part of a much wider movement of local community action, and the Scottish Communities Climate Action Network [SCCAN] has a much more detailed map of active communities all across Scotland. See here.
